First of all, I didn’t know he was Czech. I’ll apologize for that. Second of all, the official language in the Czech Republic is Czech, not Russian. Comment withdrawn.

  4. xmnemonic says:

I’d bet his english is a lot better than your russian. He’s from the Czech Republic, according to his profile. Shame on him for being reasonably bilingual.

  5. xmnemonic says:

Argh, I wish they still had the small in stock of the original Mariposa.

  6. jasonklass says:

Thanks. Unfortunately, I’ve never tried an MLD pack but I’ve always wanted to.

nice video! do you have any experience with the mountain laurel designs backpacks? Just wondering how they compare.

I am quite impressed with this pack. It incorporates many of the features I have added/wished for on my many packs over the years. I am interested to know what you put in your pack and how you pack it. I am new to the UL idea even though I am a long time backpacker. I am trying to introduce my wife to backcountry camping (which I’m sure she’ll enjoy) as an alternative to “truck” camping (where one brings a truckload of stuff to a near the road camp). A light pack would certainly make it happier.

  9. jasonklass says:

It’s as durable as any other UL pack out there. The Gorilla is supposed to be more durable but I don’t see any issues with the Mariposa.

Great review Jason, very clear & concise. This pack is one of the UL packs I’m considering picking up. I assume it’s a pretty durable pack?

  11. jasonklass says:

  16. jasonklass says:

Sorry, I should have been clearer. “UL” stands for “ultralight”.

  17. outside365 says:

doesn’t look like you’ve used the pack much yet

i just bought this pack and i have to say that your videos played a big part of that decision (along with the insanely fast email replies to my newbie ?’s from GG directly). For someone like me, who is just getting into UL, your videos really bridge that transitional gap of understanding UL well AND inspire. thanks for this and I’ll be off to japan with my Mariposa Plus next spring.

  21. jasonklass says:

    Well, I’m cool like dat!

  22. chrissept21 says:
