These trail shoes have more stability because they are for running over uneven surfaces and the nike and asics uppers are water resistant. The only advantage of having a running shoe over a trail running shoe is that the upper is lighter(but trail is stronger) and the outer-sole is lighter(but trail is stronger) If you are purely road running then get a running shoe will suffice but a trail running shoe will do both fine.
